The last few months have been bad for the technology sector. Many big tech companies have laid off a large number of workers. These include global tech company Google. It has been learned that Google has laid off around 450 workers from various departments in India. Workers affected by this sudden step taken by the company have shared their problems on social media.

A person from Hyderabad, who is associated with Google’s unit in India as a Senior Associate, has revealed his status on LinkedIn. He wrote that he was shocked when he got the news of his ouster from the company late last week. Google has thrown him out of the job after giving him the Star Performer of the Month award. He has said, “I was shocked when I received an email from Google Operations Center about layoffs. It is one of the most valuable companies. I was and always will be proud to be associated with Google. I have a difficult question that I I was the star performer of the month, so there is no answer to why this happened to me? “My salary has been halved for two months. My financial plans have been completely ruined,” he said. This former Google worker has also requested people on LinkedIn to suggest a better opportunity for him.

Aakriti Walia, Cloud Program Manager at Google, also had to leave the company. Aakriti, who hails from Gurugram, recently celebrated her five years at Google. She told that she was stunned by the message of not getting access to the computer. Alphabet Inc, the company that runs Google, had announced the layoff of about 12,000 workers last month. This is approximately six percent of the company’s total workforce.

The company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, had told the staff that after reviewing the products and workers, it has been decided to make layoffs in many countries and departments. Earlier, global software company Microsoft had announced the removal of about 10,000 workers. This is approximately five percent of the company’s total staff. Apart from this, e-commerce and tech companies Amazon and Meta have also laid off thousands of workers.
