Girls Extra Most Likely To Be Recognized With Most Cancers Than Males In US Learn about Reveals

Cancer is more common in women than men – this has been claimed in a new study. In America, cancer cases are more common in women between the ages of 50 to 64 years than in men. The American Cancer Society has done this study. The study has been published in CA: A Most Cancers Magazine for Clinicians. This is the first time since 1900 that cancer is being found more in women than in men. However, the rate of deaths due to cancer has decreased here.

Compared to men, cancer is found 82% more often in women under 50 years of age. Whereas in 2002 it was 51%. Breast cancer cases are now becoming more common in women below 50 years of age. Since 2000 it has been growing at the rate of 1.4% every year. Whereas in older women this annual rate is 0.7%. However, the report does not explain what is the reason for this increase in cancer rates.

It is believed that the increase in obesity, as well as genetic and environmental factors, may be behind this. Regarding cancer related to obesity, experts say that there are 13 types of cancer which are related only to weight gain. At the same time, there are 7 types of cancer which are related to consumption of alcohol etc.

Talking about cancer in men, mixed results have emerged here. Lung cancer has declined significantly in men of all ages since 1975. But an increase in cases of prostate cancer has been seen. Apart from cancer, one more thing has also been emphasized in this study.

The study says that women reduce their lifespan by 22 minutes every time they smoke cigarettes. Whereas if men smoke cigarettes, they reduce their lifespan by 17 minutes with every cigarette. Scientists at University College London have concluded that on average a person shortens their lifespan by 20 minutes by smoking cigarettes. That means, by smoking a pack of 20 cigarettes, a person’s lifespan is reduced by approximately 7 hours.
