What’s Gaganyan Challenge

Mission Gaganyaan was approved in the year 2018. Its purpose is to send at least 3 Indian astronauts to low-end orbit i.e. the lower orbit of the earth. The astronauts will remain in space for three days and will then land at a fixed location in the sea. ISRO has planned a total of 3 missions. In the first 2 missions, there is a preparation to send a robot ‘Vyomamitra’. Astronauts will be included in the third mission.

ISRO has successfully launched the first Test flight of this mission. The astronauts who will be sent to the space include Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair, Angad Pratap and Ajit Krishnan and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla. Of these, Shubhanshu Shukla is taking training in America and will soon fly to the International Space Station (ISS) by being a part of an American mission.

If India succeeded in Mission Gaganyaan, then after the US, Russia and China, it will become the fourth country to send its asset. According to reports, astronauts going on the mission will have all the food options. Six different menu have been prepared. Breaks are expected to include light items like Upma, Poha, Idli. Meat and veg biryani will be optioned for lunch, while dinner may include gravy items with chapatis, vegetables and meat.
