Executive Takes Robust Stance on Hoax Bomb Warnings, Problems Advisory to Social Media Platforms

In the last few days, false threats of placing bombs in the aircraft are being made in the country. The central government has adopted a strict attitude regarding this. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued an advisory to claim the responsibility of intermediates, including social media companies, to rein in the false threats of the bombs received by various airlines.

The advisory states that social media intermediates should follow the IT Act, IT (Intermediate Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules and India Justice (BNS), 2023. Social media platforms need to be removed immediately to maintain security and public order. Airlines are threatened with malicious work safety and public order. Such threats affect a large number of citizens as well as destabilize the country’s economic security.

The level of threats of these false bombs has increased significantly. It has helped from social media functions like forwarding, re-cheering, re-posting and re-tweeting. This incorrect information is a major obstruction for airlines’ functioning, air travelers and public orders. In view of this, the information technology act, 2000 and information technology (Intermediate Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) of Intermediate, including Social Media Platforms, is responsible for taking vigilance under Rules, 2021 and affecting the wrong information that affects security and public order.

In this regard, the ministry says that intermediates including social media platforms have an important responsibility. These intermediates should immediately remove the wrong information and the bomb threats should be closed in the scheduled deadline. Along with this, intermediates should report activities that may risk unity, sovereignty, security or economic stability of the country. These intermediates should cooperate with government agencies. Along with this, necessary information and assistance should be provided for the efforts of investigation or cyber security. These intermediates have to ensure that it is done immediately and 72 hours of deadline. Some arrests have also been made in the investigation of false threats of the bomb.
