Aishwarya Rai Bachchan travelled to Chennai for the grand trailer launch of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’. The actress decked up in a glamorous black and gold ensemble for the event. Videos from the trailer launch have gone viral on the internet and see the actress reuniting with her favourites.

In on clip, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is seen bending down to touch the feet of her ‘2.0’ co-star Rajinikanth. The veteran actor was quick to greet her with a big smile and a hug. Another video captured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan running towards her mentor Mani Ratnam and giving him a tight hug. The filmmaker had launched Aishwarya in 1997 with his movie ‘Iruvar’. Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya have also collaborated for ‘Raavan’ and ‘Guru’.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Aishwarya said, “For the entire team of ‘Ponniyin Selvan,’ it’s a very precious film. It is very dear to our hearts and it has been an absolute honour and privilege to work with Mani Ratnam sir once again and with such an incredibly talented team of actors and technicians. I had the privilege of working with them at the beginning of my career and here I am today again as part of ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, celebrating this momentous occasion.”

‘Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’ features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of queen Nandini, the princess of Pazhuvoor, and as Mandakini Devi. The film also features Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, Ravi and Sobhita Dhulipala in pivotal roles. This film is adapted from author Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel by the same name. ‘Ponniyin Selvan Part 1’ will hit the screens on September 30 and will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
