Elon Musk’s U turn, journalists will stop with Twitter accounts

Billionaire Elon Musk has withdrawn the decision of some journalists to ban Twitter accounts. Musk accused these journalists of threatening his family’s security. The United Nations and European Union (EU) also objected to the blocking of journalists on Twitter.

Musk said in a tweet, “The accounts with which my location has been informed will be lifted.” Musk was being severely criticized after journalists suspended Twitter accounts. He taunted this and tweeted, “It is inspiring to see the new choice on the Freedom of Speech from the Press.” Twitter changed its policy this week, saying that during human efforts or public programs, a person’s location would be removed or tweets that do so.

United Nations Secretary -General Antonio Guterres expressed concern over suspending journalists from Twitter and described it as a dangerous example. EU warned of imposing restrictions on Twitter. EU had said that restrictions can be imposed on Twitter in the upcoming media law. EU’s commissioner Vera Jourova tweeted, “It is worrying to be suspended on Twitter unilaterally on Twitter. EU’s Digital Services Act needs to respect media freedom and fundamental rights. It has been repeated in our Media Freedom Act. Allen Musk must be aware of it soon.”

Twitter had banned the account of many journalists who used to give reports related to Musk. These include Washington Publish, The Fresh York Occasions, Mashable, CNN and Substack journalists. The tweets of these journalists have also been removed. Musk has sold shares worth about $ 3.58 billion to Electric Car Company Tesla this week. However, it is not clear where the amount received from it is being spent. In the information given to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, it has been reported that Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer Musk has sold shares from Monday to Wednesday.
