Researchers have done a study for canine brain. It analyzed the activity of 18 dogs. Research revealed that dogs can establish the memory of something in their mind. Whenever they hear its name, they understand which thing is being talked about. The study is conducted in Budapest’s Eotvos Lorand College. It has been published in Stream Biology Journal.
According to the study co-writer Mariana Boros, there has been a long-standing debate about non-human animal whether they can understand words based on reference. There have also been behavioral reports in this case but the cases were extraordinary. The writer says that his study is the first which claims that recognizing objects according to words is a species -wide ability.
Interestingly, the owners of dogs in the study used words for things that their dogs knew. Also, it was also done that in some cases the same things were kept in front of dogs, while in some cases such items were also kept, whose name was something else and something else. As a result, when the object was found in front of the word was seen in his mind, a different pattern was seen, and when the object was not in front of the word, a different pattern appeared in the brain. The same is seen in humans.
Research results that dogs understand the words used for objects. Therefore, they also try to make images related to that word of object in mind. Now researchers are working on the scheme whether the understanding of the referred language is limited to dogs only, or other mammals also have this ability.
