According to data from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Airtel’s subscribers have increased in December in December. In the previous month, 11.4 lakh subscribers of the company were reduced. In December, about 17.2 lakh subscribers of Vodafone Thought (VIL) have decreased. The total number of mobile subscribers in the country has increased by about 20.1 lakhs in December. In November last year, about 17.7 lakh mobile subscribers were reduced.
Reliance Jio was at the forefront of the wireless broadband market at the end of December last year. This was followed by Bharti Airtel, VIL and BSNL. The number of Reliance Jio subscribers has been almost the same on a month-by-month basis with around 46.51 crores. The number of about 28.08 lakhs of Bharti Airtel subscribers has not changed much. BSNL subscribers decreased to about 3.11 million. The total number of wireless subscribers in the country increased to about 115.06 crores in December.
BSNL is getting a tough competition from private telecom companies. Recently, BSNL was approved by the central government for a funding of Rs 6,000 crore for expansion of 4G network. The company’s 5G network is also planned to be launched by the middle of this year. This fund will also be used for the company’s 4G network of subsidiary metropolitan telephone corporations (MTNL). The control of MTNL, which provides telecom services in Delhi and Mumbai, is with BSNL. BSNL has increased the launch of its 4G network launch. About 65,000 4G sites of the company have been activated. The company has used technology made in the country for this network. The company’s 5G network is being tested. After installing one lakh 4G sites of BSNL, there is a preparation to launch 5G service. The company has used 700 MHz spectrum for 4G network. This will provide better experience to customers.
