The company has told Techcrunch in a statement that it has become a victim of a data theft incident. The case was reported about two weeks ago. The company has reported that hackers have made a dent in ‘important data’. However, it has not confirmed whether the data of customers has also been stolen in this cyber attack. A report recently claimed that hackers used Telegram chatbots to dent the company’s data.

Star Health said that forensic investigation is going on by cyber security experts in the matter. Along with this, the company is working closely with the government and regulatory authorities at each stage of investigation. In this cyber attack last month, there are reports of personal data of about 3.1 million policyholders of the company and the theft of more than 58 lakh insurance claims. It was reported that this data was later leaked through a messaging platform Telegram. The company then filed a legal case against Telegram to allegedly help in leaking this data.

The Madras High Court had ordered Telegram to block such chatbots and websites in the country which have provided this data online. Apart from this, Star Hot has also filed a complaint against the software company Cloudflare for services to the websites hosting leaked data. In the last few years, cases of making hackers in the database of companies have increased. In some of these cases, hackers also demanded a huge amount for not leaking the data.
