Bajaj Auto, one of the big automobile companies, is preparing to expand its Electric Vehicle (EV) business. The company may soon launch a new brand for EV. In this segment, the company has Chetak Electric, Electric Three-Wheeler and Electric Cargo Three-Wheeler.

In a media report quoting the company’s Managing Director, Rajiv Bajaj, it has been said that the company will launch new products in this segment in the next quarter. Bajaj Auto also expects sales of electric Chetak, electric three-wheeler and electric cargo three-wheeler to increase. Bajaj Auto aims to increase its EV sales to around five lakh units in the next financial year. The company also plans to launch a new brand for EVs. The company’s share in the electric three-wheeler and electric cargo three-wheeler segments is about 36 percent.

Bajaj Auto will launch the new Chetak electric scooter this week. Some improvements can be made in comparison to the previous version of Chetak Electric. Recently the company had introduced an upgraded variant of Chetak Electric. It had a new display, more connectivity options and better hardware. In the new version of Chetak Electric, storage can be increased with changes in the chassis. The current version of this electric scooter has only 21 liters of storage space. Quilted seats were given in the new Chetak 3201 Special Edition. Its top-end variant has Brooklyn Twilight paint. Its ARAI certified range is 136 kilometers in a single charge. It can reach a top speed of 73 kmph.

This electric scooter has been provided with features like Bluetooth connectivity, color TFT instrument console and auto hazard light through Chetak app. The company had said that the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) has been approved by the Ministry of Heavy Industries of the Central Government for Chetak Top Rate, Chetak Urbane (3202) and the new Chetak 3201 Special Edition. Bajaj Auto launched the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle Liberty 125 in July. The company has reduced the price of this motorcycle. Its price has been reduced by Rs 10,000. Its starting price at launch was around Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). The cost of running this motorcycle is about 50 percent less than petrol-powered motorcycles.
