Apple to send 28 Lakh iPhones in Bharat in Q2, In Spite of Seasonal Slowdown, EndMost Warmth


American devices maker Apple can ship around 28 million iPhone in India in the second quarter of the current year. This will increase by about 20 percent on a year-on-year basis. Despite the weak season in the country’s smartphone market and the scorching heat in many states, iPhone sales are likely to be strong.

A media report quoted the data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) as saying that the country’s smartphone market may fall by three to four percent in the second quarter. Shipments of 3.3-3.4 million units are estimated in this period. Seasonal recession behind the shortfall in the shipments of smartphones and the heat growing in many states are the main reasons. However, Apple’s shipments may increase by more than 20 percent in the second quarter. However, in this period, the shipments of Android smartphones may decrease by about five percent on a year-on-year basis.

Apple sales have also increased with discounts and financeing options on iPhones. The company opened two retail stores in India about two years ago. Apple plans to start new stores in the country soon. Earlier this year, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook Dinner had said that the company plans to open four new stores in the country. The company’s current stores are in Delhi and Mumbai. Apple plans to open new stores in Sky City Mall in Borivili, Mumbai and Finix Mall of Asia in Bangalore. Recently, a media report said that workers have been hiring for these stores for the last few months.

Two stores of Apple can also be opened in DLF Mall of Bharat of Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Kopa Mall in Pune. In the first quarter of the current year, Apple finished first in the international sales of smartphones. The company benefited from increasing demand in India and Japan and launch of iPhone 16E. In the last financial year, the iPhone stake in the export of smartphones from India was about Rs 1.5 lakh crore. The manufacturing of iPhone has increased rapidly in the last few years in the country.
