Airbnb closed service in Russia and Belarus, will give free houses to one lakh refugees


US-based home rental company AirbNB is suspending all its operations in Russia and Belarus. The company’s Chief Executive Officer Brian Cheskey has given this information by tweeting. Chaski announced that the company will suspend all operations in Russia and Belarus amidst the current crisis in Ukraine. Recently, the company’s CEO had told that the company is working to give homes for free to 1 lakh refugees displaced by Ukraine.

Chaski has appealed to the people of Ukraine’s neighboring countries to help AirbnB to provide houses to refugees through tweet. He said that we need people in nearby countries including Poland, Germany, Hungary and Romania who can offer us their homes. He informed that all will be made free in these houses. Its expenses will be raised with the help of airbnb and donors.

After the Russia-Ukraine War, all companies are stopping or limiting their functioning in Russia. Netflix has also temporarily stopped all its future projects and acquisitions in Russia. The Cannes Film Festival has also issued a statement saying that until the Ukraine struggle ends, it will ban Russia’s official delegation at the 2022 Kans Festival.

Ukraine is also helping in large -scale cryptocurrency. After posting an appeal on social media, the Ukraine government has raised about 80 million dollars (about 60 crore rupees) in cryptocurrency.

Apple, one of the world’s big smartphone brands, has stopped the sale of iPhones and other products in Russia due to an attack on Ukraine. American brands like Google, Ford and Harley Davidson have also distanced away from Russia. The Alphabet Inc, which runs Google, has removed Russia’s publishers from its platform.

Ford Motor has informed its manufacturing partner in Russia to stop functioning and Harley Davidson has stopped the shipment of his business and bikes in Russia. The British satellite company OneWeb has decided to suspend all launch from Baikonoor Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
