Lahore of Pakistan is the second largest city here. But now it has also become the most polluted city in the world whose Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached beyond 1900. According to BBC, in view of serious pollution, the administration has issued instructions to keep primary schools closed for 1 week. The city has been wrapped in smog for the last several days. Two days ago, its AQI was very much recorded, which had reached around 1100.
This city with a population of about 1.5 crore people is currently trying to breathe in the air. According to the report, the reason behind such a serious condition is being told about the smoke emanating from the burning of low-grade diesel, the fire in the cultivation of the season, as well as the dust particles of freezing dust due to the onset of winter.
If the air quality index crosses 300, it is considered dangerous to breathe. But Lahore’s air quality index crossed 1000 on Saturday itself. In such a situation, it can be guessed that how many serious consequences can be seen on people’s health by breathing in such air.
Another worried thing has come out from the Weather Department. Weather Forecast says that the air pattern will remain the same for the next 6 to 7 days. That is, no relief from pollution is going to be available here for 1 week. Therefore, the government has directed to close primary schools. The government says that this type of pollution is very dangerous for children. Therefore it is mandatory to wear masks in schools.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breathing in toxic air for a long time can lead to heart stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, and healthy diseases.
