The study published in Nature Astronomy states that about 1,000 tonnes of oxygen is released daily from the icy surface of Europe, which can breathe for 1 million people for 24 hours. NASA’s Junae Mission has played an important role in obtaining this information.
Juno Spacecraft has been collecting information about Brihaspati and its moon for many years. Scientists used this to use the data of JDE Instrument on Spacekraft. Two years ago, in September 2022, Juno flew close to Europe. After studying the data collected at that time, it was found that this moon of Jupiter is releasing a lot of oxygen.
First of all, scientists had speculated that oxygen is produced on Europe from a few pounds to 2,000 pounds per second. It is now estimated that Europea releases more oxygen than this. This study is also important because scientists feel that there can be a huge ocean under the icy surface of Europe. If there is a presence of oxygen, it can be an important sign of life on this planet.
The study has encouraged NASA, as the Space Agency is going to launch the Europe Clipper Mission in the coming days. The purpose of the mission to be blown up by the end of this year is to gather deep information about Europe.
