According to the report of Spacedotcom and The Planetary Society, China has also chosen its target. The China National Space Administration (CNSA) is eyeing an Estroid called 2015 XF261. Its size is about 100 feet wide.
According to the database of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the 2015 XF261 last came to the last week of Earth on Tuesday, July 9. It passed through a distance of 50 million kilometers from our planet. Then its speed was 42 thousand kilometers per hour.
What was America’s Dart Mission?
In 2022, the US space agency NASA completed the Dart Mission. Under this, on 26 September 2022, NASA’s Double Estroid Redirection Test (DART) spacraft deliberately collided with a construed named Dimorphos (Dimorphos). NASA wanted to know whether it changes the class of Estroid or not. This mission was successful. That is, NASA came to the conclusion that in future, the direction of Estroids will be changed after such collapses and the explosives of Earth can be ‘removed from the path’. Now China also wants to do the same.
