Record sales in India’s PC market, HP remains first place


HP retained its first place in the country’s Personal Computer (PC) market last year. In the fourth quarter, HP shipped more than 1.3 million units. The company’s market share is 31.5 percent and its shipments increased by 58.7 percent last year. PC market recorded a record increase last year. The vendors shipped about 1.48 crore units. Demand has gained momentum due to work from home and better supply in many companies. The shipments of the notebook computers increased to 1.16 crore units and they contributed a lot in increasing the volume. The sale of desktop computers has increased by about 30 percent on a year-on-year basis.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) report, HP stood first in PC shipments in the country. Dell finished second with 23.6 percent market share. The company shipped more than 1 million units in both the third and fourth quarters. Dale was at the forefront with a 38 percent stake in the enterprise segment. The company benefited from increasing demand from IT and Its companies.

According to the report, Lenovo finished third in the fourth quarter and the last entire calendar year. It recorded a growth of 22.8 percent on a year-on-year basis. Lenovo stood second with a 24.7 percent stake in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SM) segment. However, the supply of supply on the company’s total shipments had an impact.

Acer and Asus were in fourth and fifth place. Both these companies retain their places with 8.2 and 5.9 percent stake respectively. The report said that ACER was included in the companies taking advantage of recovery in the desktop category. It finished second with 25.8 percent stake in the commercial segment. The position of Acer in the commercial desktop market has remained strong for the last few years. Asus recorded a growth of 36.1 percent last year. Its performance in the commercial segment was very good and the company’s growth in it was 227.2 percent on a year-on-year basis. There is a lot of competition among big companies to increase sales in India included in the world’s big PC markets. Because of this, these companies often offer discounts.
