Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature on his WhatsApp channel. It is being said that ‘seek by means of day’ feature is available to all users on Android, iOS, Mac, Home Windows and Internet at the global level. It was reportedly seen in beta testing in November 2023.
To use the ‘seek by means of day’ on Whatsapp, users have to open a personal or group chat in which they want to find a message. After this, they have to tap on three points in the upper right corner on Android phone or tap on the iOS device in the name of the contact or group. If the app is updated in the latest available version, they will see a small calendar with a search icon after clicking on the regular search option. After this, a pop-up calendar will allow users to choose the date as per their wish, which will show the message made or received at that date.
For example, if they want to see a message of October 20, 2023, they can choose it according to the date, month and year on the pop-up calendar. Once selecting the date, the chat or group will directly show the message of the day from which users can also scroll up or down. Without this feature, users would be forced to scroll the message of previous months to reach the text.
WhatsApp has also recently introduced four new text formatting options at global levels – Bulleted Point, Nambard Lists, Block Quotes and Inline Quotes. The new formats have now joined the current bold, italic, strikethrrow and monospace formatting options.
