Whatsapp has been engulfed in controversies for the past few months over its new privacy policy. Earlier this policy was to be implemented from 8 February, but in view of the increasing dispute, the company postponed it for a few months. Now this policy is going to be implemented from May 15. However, a PIL has been filed in the Delhi High Court against this policy of the company, on which the company had to give its reply. According to the report, WhatsApp has said in response to a petition filed against its privacy policy update in the Delhi High Court that the policy of many internet-based apps and websites is the same and some companies collect more data than this. The FB-owned instant messaging app has allegedly cited the privacy policy of Bulky Basket, Koo, Ola, Truecaller and ZOMATO as well as the privacy policy of the government’s contact traceing app Aarogya Setu in its affidavit.

But still, WhatsApp has said that these changes will not affect the chats made with anyone.

Earlier, the last date to adopt this updated policy was earlier February 8, but later the company made it to 15 May.
