PIB tweeted information about fake WhatsApp messages on 1 June. Also shared a small video showing the content of the message. The video shows that the message gives the wrong information to the users. It is written that the government is offering free internet and this offer is available for Jio, Airtel and VI (Vodafone Concept) users till June 29. It also includes a link, which takes the user to a website, which asks users to submit them to them. Keep in mind that by doing this, all your data can go into the wrong hands. So avoid doing so.

Such fake messages often go viral. In April, a message went viral, claiming to bring Whatsapp Purple, which could allow hackers to get users ‘data and get access to the affected users’ phones. PIB also gave information about another fake message last week, in which it was falsely claimed that the government is eyeing WhatsApp and if the red tick is seen in your chat, then action can be taken against you.
To prevent fake messages from spreading excessively, ‘Forwarded Again and Again’ is written on that message, ‘Label written’ many times forward ‘, but still it does not stop people from spreading the message.
