Google Maps first made the on-screen speedometer available to users in 2019. It was then available to selected users from Asia, Europe, South America, UK and US. Gradually, on-screen speedometer is made available to more users worldwide. Also, Google also shows the speed limit of the area in which the user is present. However, the speed limit function is not currently available in all areas. If the speed limit function is available in your area, it is mentioned here how you can activate it. Google recommends its users not to depend on on-screen speedometer.
The right way to turn on pace limits in google maps
For Google Maps, the speed limit is shown in the lower left corner of the map, the duration of the journey, ETA, the remaining kilometers and the navigation shown above the bar to discontinue and show the entire route. Here is told how you can activate it for Android smartphone:
- Open Google Maps.
- At the upper right corner, click on profile picture or your initial.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down to navigation settings.
- Go to Pace Limits Surroundings and choose it in ON/Off.
If the user is driving above the speed limit of that road, then it will be informed by Google Maps. That is, if your car is at higher speed than the speed limit of that road, then notifications are sent to you.
Although currently the information given by the apps can be trusted to some extent due to the advertisement of technology, but Google Maps still suggests the users that users should take the right decision only using their discretion. Therefore, Google Maps advises car speed to check in speedometer.
