Albinder Dhindsa, the founder and chief executive officer of the Blinkit, announced the shutdown in the area where he cannot deliver rapid delivery in the area through a blog post. The service service will now be available only in the area where the company can deliver users in 10 minutes (or less) time.
Dhindsa said that it will greatly affect the size and number of customers of our business. We think it will affect around 75000 out of our 200000 customers daily.
He said that we are opening a new store every four hours and hopes to serve all the customers affected within four weeks. Users can check their exact location on our app and check whether the service of blinkit is available in their area.
Grofers started functioning as an online groser in 2013. The company rebrands itself with the name Blinkit last week.
The company mainly focused on grocery delivery till now. It is said to have more than 100 partner stores or warehouses in eight cities. It is currently allegedly 2000 employees and more than 1 million orders are processed in 12 cities of India in a week.
Significantly, in the era of Kovid, people have moved towards online grocery shopping, which has directly benefited in platforms like Blinkit. The company claims delivery with full safety and hygiene.
