Rahul Gandhi’s allegation of his followers on Twitter due to ‘government pressure’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the micro blogging site Twitter is working under the pressure of the central government. The Congress MP has written a letter saying that Twitter has reduced the growth of their followers. At the same time, Twitter denied the allegations in the case, saying that the company keeps zero tolerance about manipulation and spam. Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Twitter’s CEO Parag Agarwal on 27 December. It has said, I believe that Twitter has an inadvertent participation in curbing independent and fair speech in India.

According to a news agency report, Rahul has reported that his followers have almost stabilized since August 2021. Earlier, their followers were growing at the rate of more than 2.3 lakhs every month. In a few months, this number had reached 6.5 lakhs. He has also sent data analysis of his Twitter account. It is said that after August last year, the number of his followers has barely increased. It is currently 19.6 million.

Not just considering the decline in the number of his followers as a coincidence, Rahul said that many of his videos were also dropped. In one of them, Rahul Gandhi told the farmers that the three agricultural laws would be canceled. That video also went viral.

Significantly, Twitter also suspended Rahul Gandhi’s account for about a week from August 6 to August 14. The reason for this was the tweet in which he allegedly shared the picture of a rape victim’s family from New Delhi on Twitter.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s letter, Twitter spokesperson has said that we also want the number of followers to be seen with an account, but we also believe that followers are real. Twitter has no place for manipulation and spam. Through machine learning tools, we trim the bot followers and spam every week. Twitter has said that we remove millions of accounts every week for violating our policies on the platform and spam in the platform.
