Live tracks can now be launched live track, new update in Railway’s ‘Yatri’ app

There is good news for those of Mumbai who use local trains to move. The Central Railway has launched live-tracking of trains on its mobile application to avoid delay and save passengers. The GPS -equipped system began on Wednesday, which would allow passengers to use the Yatri mobile application to detect their train status in real time. For now, this feature is available only on Central Railway Lines, as it has completed GPS tagging of all its engines.

Pictures of the launch event of the Yatri app updated on Wednesday were posted on their respective Twitter handle by Central Railway and Yatri.

Photos show the live demo of the app facility. Anil Kumar Lahoti, general manager of Central Railway, said, “(from this) will help the passengers to plan better for their journey”.

Lahoti said in a tweet on Wednesday, “This app is useful to get information about the train running for the daily suburban travelers. Live location tracking will help passengers in better planning and easy travel.”

The Central Railway has created its official Yatri app with the help of a private firm. According to the feature description page of the app, it provides information about passenger facilities, real-time updated timetable and live train alerts at stations.

The application is being developed in stages and now includes the ability to provide real-time details about the moving train.

Currently passengers use private M-Indicator apps to track local trains. It also includes a certified timetable and details of local trains.
