Methods to deactivate upi bills for that who lose your cell phone

If you lose your mobile phone then before taking steps on how you can deactivate UPI transactions, it is important to note that during the process you should not share your UPI PIN or any other sensitive details with anyone.

  1. Block your phone number by calling your mobile network operator’s customer care service. This will prevent thieves from starting transactions using your SIM card or lost mobile phone. Before proceeding on your request, you can be asked to provide the final recharge or bill amount paid for your personal details such as your full name, billing address, and verification.
  2. Call your bank helpline to block your phone number from your account and ask to disable UPI service.
  3. Enter an FIR about losing your mobile phone. This can be easily done online for residents of most states of India.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) site has been told to block the mobile number in a frequently asked question page. It can then be helpful in the event of a mobile phone being lost. However, there is no such work -round available on the site so that the user can block their UPI access.
