MCAFEE’s mobile research team detected 43 apps available (now removed) on Google Play Games, which load the advertisement when the device’s screen is closed. The firm says that these developers of Google Play Games clearly violate the policy that decide how advertisements should be displayed. This not only affects advertisers who pay for invisible advertisements, but also affect common users, as it costs battery, consumes data and clicker behavior also increases the risk of personal information leaks.
Research says that the team has identified 43 apps which have been collectively downloaded 2.5 million times. Targeted apps include TV/DMB Player, Music Downloader, News and Calendar Apps.
According to the report, MCAFEE also shared the information of these apps with Google and stated that the search engine immediately took action and removed most of apps from Google Play Games. At the same time, other developers have updated the apps. McAfee Cellular Safety recognizes this danger as Android/Clicker.
It uses a special strategy to avoid being caught by the Ed Fraud Library. It deliberately delays the onset of its fraud activity, so that it is not known at the time of installation. All complex configurations of this library can be stored and pushed using firebase storage or messaging service.
