A similar case has come to light in Gurugram in which the police have arrested two Airtel employees. According to Cybercrime’s Assistant Commissioner of Police, Piyush Dhawan in Gurugram, a person named Neeraj Walia and Hemant has been arrested by the cybercrime team in a joint operation. The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 318 (4), 319 and 61 (2) of BNS.
In fact, the police received a call from a local in Gurugram, in which a complaint was made that a landline number was lured to give part time job. The caller offered a part time job to the receiver in which he had to give a review of hotels. He got 200 on completion of the task. Initially some amount was inserted into the victim’s account. But later he was asked to invest with a large amount.
In the deception, the victim transferred more money to the thugs’ account. But as he was promised, he never received increased money in return. During interrogation, the police came to know that Neeraj worked as a site verifier for Airtel and Hemant was his team leader. He released the landline number used in the scam in the name of Acmarsha Services Private Limited, which was not registered at the given address. Using this number, the fraudsters offered fake jobs and targeted people to cheat people on the pretext of investment schemes.
